Question
Why should I migrate from MIKE 11/MIKE HYDRO River to MIKE+ Rivers?

Answer
Over the years, both MIKE 11 and MIKE HYDRO River users have provided DHI with a lot of valuable feedback and ideas. When developing MIKE+ Rivers, DHI’s next-generation river modelling software, we have made several major improvements that should expand river modelers’ user experience.

Below are the top 5 reasons to migrate/upgrade to MIKE+:

#01 - Create better models faster
River models can be more easily set up thanks to a fully customisable Graphical User Interface. Benefit from enhanced import/export functionalities, an improved map-based environment, a new Scenario Manager and GIS-based model building tools. This unified platform also makes the creation and maintenance of coupled models easier. In addition, MIKE+ Rivers comes with tools and warnings to make sure your river model is optimally configured to produce the highest quality results.

#02 - Visualise and share your results easily.
The result viewing experience has also been tremendously improved when compared with MIKE11 and MIKE HYDRO River. The map-based environment allows you to animate and visualise your results in an intuitive way. The result difference tools provide easy-to-understand information about the impact of different scenarios in your river system. In addition, new reporting and video recording functionalities make it easier to communicate your results with stakeholders. Plus, you can also share results with your team easily thanks to the free result viewing version.

#03 - Create bigger models with your team
In MIKE+, your data is stored in a fast SQL database (SQLite or PostgreSQL format) which makes it smoother to handle big datasets. This set-up also enables a multi-user approach where different modellers can work on a different part of the model in parallel, to meet your project’s deadlines.

#04 - Tap into a rich ecosystem of software
Thanks to the integration with MIKE Cloud, you can now run simulations in the cloud and easily access the hardware required to deliver your project on time. You can also store your models and results in the cloud for archiving and sharing purposes.
The MIKE+ ArcGIS integration enables access to the sophisticated spatial processing technologies of ArcGIS for more efficient preparation of spatial data and visualisation of model outputs. You can also tap into the wealth of visualisation and reporting tools from ArcGIS online.

Note: MIKE+ can be purchased as a standalone product, or as part of a MIKE+ ArcGIS version which also provides an ArcGIS license.

#05 - Future-proof your river modelling

There are a good number of improvements / capabilities introduced in MIKE+ 2024 which will grow over time such as:

•    Couplings defined between the Collection System network and MIKE SHE
•    Improvements and corrections made to the import from MIKE URBAN, MIKE HYDRO River, MIKE11 or MIKE FLOOD model setups
•    Improvements to the export of profile plots to CAD files
•    Improvement to the performance of the ‘Versions management’ tool

Thanks to the powerful model conversion tools, all those features are only a few clicks away!

Note:  If you’re an existing/old MIKE 11 or MIKE HYDRO River user, you can benefit from a MIKE+ upgrade – please refer to your local DHI office for an offer.
