I am trying to reproduce a storm surge due to a storm event in the portuguese north coast using the MIKE 21 FM model. I have tried 2 approaches:
- Only use meteorological forcing (pressure at msl and wind at 10 m from the surface), in which case the resulting surge is the expected;
- Using both astronomical and meteorological forcings. In this case I subtract from the resulting surface elevation the surface elevation that results from a previous simulation with only the astronomical forcing. In this case the resulting surge has some oscillations. I have tried to remove them by increasing the warm up time and using a spatially varying surface elevation in the initial conditions, but nothing worked. Has anyone had this problem before. Do you have any idea why this happens.
