Thank you chc,
I already tried a dfs2 input file, but i get "no valid items" for the wx and wy terms although the item types are u and v velocity components in m/s. this is why i thought of using a dfsu file.

you should try the auto calibration from mike zero. and probably you should play with the background charnock parameter if you are using wind forcing

I am having trouble figuring out how this dfsu file should be shaped and what is the quickest way to enter the data. help much appreciated.
thank you,

I am trying to use ECMWF data (http://data-portal.ecmwf.int/data/d/interim_full_daily/) to get wave parameters needed for mike 21 sw boundary conditions. how do i structure the dfs1 file and if anyone has used this data source how do you get the directional spreading index?
thanks

Dear Mathieu,
thank you for finding my problem, I skipped pressing the import from background button for some reason.
Thanks again,

I am a new user, so please take this into consideration. I am creating a dsf2 bathymetry file from xyz files. the "water" xyz file is in the "X Y Z" and the land polygon xyz file is in the "X Y 1 10" format. I was able to interpolate the data however the dfs2 table when opened is all empty.
can you please help me in this, i have been stuck for a couple of days now.
