  • Windows 7 - FEFLOW 5.1

    Hello everybody  :),

I use FEFLOW 5.1 (32-bit) and I would like to know if this version runs under Windows 7.

Thank you very much for your help,

Thank you very much Peter, I will definitely try that!!!!

  • SAMG Solver

    Hello everybody,

I am using Feflow v5.1 and unfortunately the SAMG solver is not available (which I think is the default solver in later versions). I am trying to simulate a considerably big coastal aquifer using a density dependent model, which results in a FE mesh with a large number of elements and nodes. I was wondering if anyone knows how much time could I save using SAMG solver instead of the PCG in  cases like this. Maybe this is a good chance to upgrade my version!!!  ???

Thank you very much for your help,

  • Vertical location of wells

    Hi everybody,  :)

I have some questions about wells. I have a hypothetical unconfined aquifer and I’m trying to determine its response in several pumping scenarios. I have placed a well at the 2nd layer and I noticed that when the pumping rate increased enough (e.g. 500m3/d) some oscillations in hydraulic and some convergence problems occurred. So, my questions are these:

    1. Are there any rules to choose the “best” from a numerical point of view layer for pumping? Should I use certain parameter values at the well location to avoid numerical problems?

    2. Is it right to place the well at the top slice and use a free and movable surface? If I understood that correctly the BC in this case would follow the free surface up and down movement and the top layer would not fall dry.

Thank you very much for your help,

  • Negative concentrations

    Hello everybody,

I'm working on a saltwater intrusion problem. The results indicate a zone of negative mass concentration values near the coastline. Mass concentration becomes zero within the inner parts of the aquifer. Is this a numerical method problem or a parameter problem? Should I refine the mesh? The problem is that the aquifer is quite big and a dense aquifer would result in a really time intensive model.

Any ideas would be great help

    Thanks

  • Changing .fem problem values

    Hello everybody :),

I would to run a certain fem problem several times changing the value of one parameter (e.g. dispersivity values). Should I create a separate problem for each time, or is there an easier way to do it?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Thanks...

  • FEFLOW - Optimization

    Hello everybody!

I'm a new Feflow user with little experience in programming.  :(
I would like to create some simple flow - mass transport problems and use them along with an optimization module. Is there a way to do that? For example: is there a way to run Feflow iteratively, changing for example well-pumping each time?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    George
