Description
Learn step-by-step how to customize and re-use a longitudinal profile plot's layout in other MIKE+ projects.

PART 1 - Creation of longitudinal profile

Step #01 - Defining the longitudinal profile path on Map View
The first step to customize the longitudinal profile will be to create one!  From the map view begin by defining the start and end points of the profile path. If there are multiple points of interest to trace along the path it is important to add multiple flags clearly defining the path to follow - see Fig. 1.

Step #02 - Selection of “Draw Profile” option
Once the path has been defined the “Draw Profile” option should be selected. The longitudinal profile will be presented in its default standardized layout - see Fig. 2.

Step #03 - Customization of the longitudinal profile
The longitudinal profile can be customized by means of the Properties option - see Fig. 3.

Step #04 - Defining properties Editor tabs
The Properties editor will show multiple tabs with different options for powerful customization- see Fig. 4.

Step #05 - 'Graphical styles' tab custom settings
The 'Graphical styles' tab enables the user to change the symbology, add markers and modify color settings. After the modifications have been defined, the user can click on the 'Apply' button - see Fig. 5.

Step #06 - 'Axes' tab and customization
In the 'Axes' tab the user can modify common settings, as well as the X-axis and the Left and Right Y axis. Here users can find sub tabs to customize the axes - see Fig. 6.

Step #07 - Visualization of customized profile
After the user has customized the layout and clicked the “Apply” button, the changes can be effective and displayed in the longitudinal profile plot - see Fig. 7.

PART 2 - MIKE+ Layout Reuse

Step #08 - Loading and saving
Once the user is satisfied with the customization of the Longitudinal Profile Layout then it is possible to save the personalized settings. This can be done through the “Load and save” tab.
The Layout can be saved to a file, set as Default and even re-used in other MIKE+ projects by choosing the option “Load from file” - see Fig. 8.

Step #09 - Saving to file
The 'Save to file' option will prompt the user to define a suitable path and file name for the Profile Plot settings file - see Fig. 9.

You can then simply load the stored profile plot settings file and re-use the predefined layout for longitudinal profile plots in new MIKE+ projects.

Step 10 - Presentation of Profile with the custom settings and layout
After loading the custom profile plot settings file in another MIKE+ project, the profile will be presented with the custom settings and layout - see Fig. 10.

Conclusion
The longitudinal profile customization functionality allows for a clearer and detailed depiction of the hydraulic infrastructure and the terrain. The fine-tuning of the visualization is particularly important when analyzing and presenting parameters such as invert levels, diameters, and pipe/river slopes for collection, water distribution or river systems.
