  • problem with convergence using densitiy coupled flow

    hi everybody,

i am testing a 2D vertical box model in order to get used to the modelling of density coupled flow.
i am applying constant head boundary conditions for flow and mass transport. boundaries for mass transport are 0 and 35000 mg/l simulating seawater conditions on one end and fresh water conditions on the other. after taking into account all the required settings (density ratio, reference and maximum mass, seawater head instead of hydraulic head) i can sea a well shaped seawater wedge in my model but it does not converge to the usual default error of 1e-03. i don't have much experience with convergence criteria and accepable errors at all. can anybody help me with that? are errors in the range of 1e-02 a comonly acceptable value which is just due to the complex coupled equations? if not what might be wrong in my model?

    thanks in advance
  • Re: density driven flow on/off

ok thanks a lot. i'll have to go a bit deeper into the manuals and white papers. still starting ;-)
  • density driven flow on/off

    hi,

i want to test the effect of the density driven flow implemented by feflow 5.3. under 'specfifc options settings' i can choose 'default' or 'extended' for the denisity coupling. i would like to run the same modell once with density coupling and once totally neglecting it in order to assess the influence on the result. does anybody know how to do this?

    thanks
