Reading the documentation for the ifmLake plugin I didn't see reference to assigning In-/Out-transfer rate parameters. I wasn't sure if the plug-in automatically assigns these (based on the hydraulic conductivity of the layer 1 elements beneath the lake for example) or if these must be explicitly assigned by the user. Doing a preliminary simulation without setting these parameters (so the FEFLOW default of 0 [DIM: 1/Time] would be used) resulted in extremely low groundwater fluxes - so I'm assuming they must be explicitly set. Can someone confirm this is the case?

Also, any suggestions for assigning the transfer rates, assuming you do not want to simulate an additional low permeability barrier layer over the bottom of the pit lake to impede flow. Set the transfer rate to K (conductivity)? 10 x K?

Thanks!

Hi,

IfmLake plug-in uses a nodal distribution named "IfmTransfer" with units [1e-4 1/d] to define the transfer coefficients for the lakes. If you can read more details about this implementation in the user manual (page 2).
