Hi,
I am wondering approximately about the simulation time of an unsaturated, 3D regional problem of about 260 km2.
Thanks.

There are too many unstated variables to be able to answer your question. These would include:

Number of elements
Number of layer/slices
Transient vs. steady-state
The duration of the simulation (simulated duration) if transient
The number of times that you allow boundary conditions to change (if transient)
The number of save times (if transient)

I'm sure I'm missing other factors.

On the other hand, I agree with the original question: I too would like to know if there is a way to estimate how long a particular model will run.

Probably we all would like to know the execution time in advance. However, as Dwaine pointed out, so many variables have an influence on this, and therefore an a-priori estimation is difficult. From my point of view, only the modeler himself can give a rough estimation based on his knowledge of the model properties and ways of setup. But this of course requires long-term experience with the kind of model to be built. It is nearly impossible to estimate simulation times externally based on a small amount of information.
