Description
The ‘Online map’ functionality in the “Background map” editor has been enhance in release MIKE+ 2026 Update1, bringing a larger number of options and cleaner visualization into the GUI environment.
#01 - Google background maps have been discontinued in MIKE+ 2026 Update 1
In MIKE+ 2026 and older versions, the user could use Google's online maps as backgrounds, which had the limitation of having the Google attribution line (copyright notice, e.g. Imagery @2026, Airbus, Maxar Technologies). In the map view the Google attribution line crosses the layout in multiple lines which can be misleading and confusing. See Fig. 1.

#02 - Background maps update in MIKE+ 2026 Update1.
In MIKE+ 2026 Update1 support to Google Maps has been decommissioned and instead larger number of online map options have been added for further customization. See Fig. 2.
Fig. 2 - Online map options available with MIKE+ 2026 Update1
All these available online background map options are presented in a format that keeps a clean and unobstructed map display within the GUI. The map provider's copyright line does not appear as a large banner crossing the map view window, allowing users to maximize the screen space when visualizing, editing and validating model components. See Fig. 3.
