Description

In recent versions of MIKE+ up to version 2025, a one-user license allowed up to 4 licensed MIKE+ instances (i.e. 4 project databases) to be opened simultaneously, given that they were opened on the same computer.

MIKE software release 2026 introduces a new Entitlement Management platform offering increased reliability and improvements. However, it is no longer possible to open 4 instances simultaneously in licensed mode for MIKE+. This means that one MIKE+ license now only allows opening 1 instance in licensed mode.

It is still possible to open additional MIKE+ instances in demo mode when no license is available, which allows, for example, viewing all the data.

Results visualization is not subject to a license, therefore it also remains possible to open as many MIKE+ instances as needed and view results as long as no project database is opened.

Note that this change does not affect the number of simultaneous simulations allowed per license.

For projects of type 'River, collection system and overland flows', the workflow for running simultaneous simulations on one-user license has also been simplified with a new 'Run detached' option. With this new feature, simulations are not bound to MIKE+ and continue to run while you can close and open different MIKE+ projects.

The workflow can therefore be:

  • Open the first project in MIKE+
  • Select the simulation to execute and start it with the 'Run detached' button
  • If the next simulation to execute is part of the same MIKE+ project, select it and start it with the 'Run detached' button again
  • If the next simulation to execute is part of the another MIKE+ project, close MIKE+ and open the new project, and then repeat the steps above
  • Continue like this for the following simulations, as long as the number of simulations allowed by your license is not exceeded.
