Question
I am not able to start MIKE product in either version 2014 or 2016. The error message displays 'running in Demo mode'. I have tried to re-activate my Internet License, when I do, I receive the message below from the DHI License Manager - see Fig. 1.

Answer
We have recently modified the license system to strengthen the security protection. The implementation included removing old framework not supported by Microsoft and old framework using the 'retired TLS'.

Below is a 'step-by-step workaround'. Note: this article/workaround includes the attachment 'Workaround lines .zip'

Step #01 - Save and unzip the attachment file 'Workaround lines .zip' on your local drive

Step #02 - From 'Start Menu' search for 'Registry Editor'

Step #03 - Under 'File' choose the option 'Import...' - see Fig. 2.

Fig. 2 - Choose option 'import...'

Step #04 - Browse to the directory where the unzipped attachment file is saved. Select the file 'enabletls12.reg' and then click on 'Open' to merge the lines. This will force the framework to use the old TLS - see Fig. 3.

Step #05 - Launch ‘DHI License Manager’ and make sure the ‘Internet Access Point’ is correctly entered as:  https://dk.license.mikebydhi.com/svc  - see Fig. 4.

Step #06 - Stop and re-start the license service.

Step #07 - Enter your ‘Internet License’ credential and click ‘Test’. The error should be gone.
