Hello,

I am building a MIKE-SHE model and my input rainfall data is in terms of depth instead of rate. The MIKE-SHE manual mentions that you can specify the precipitation as a rate, for example in [mm/hr], or as an amount, for example in [mm] through the EUM Data Units. I checked the EUM Data Units and it only includes the units of the items in the model not the type of input data for the item. Any help will be appreciated.

Best,

Firas

Hey Firas,

Surely you are measuring precipitation over some time period?

Or are you wanting to use a constant rate in absence of observed data?  You can use a constant rate also.

I would think it would be fairly easy then to convert the data to a rate.

Hi -

Thank you for your response. I currently have a time series of observed precipitation depth from a station. It is not constant. I understand that it would be easy to convert into rate but the station that I got the data from only records the depth and the date when precipitation occurs (Non-equidistant Data). So when there is no rain, the station does not add the date with zero depth. For more details, check the lines below.

DateTime                      Depth (in)
2011-01-12 22:00:00    0.016
2011-01-17 02:00:00    0.457
2011-01-17 11:00:00     0.270
2011-01-25 04:00:00     0.074
