Hello everyone,

I want to apply boundary condition at all surface nodes (only top surface) of 3D elements selection in my model.

However, I have been struggling to select these nodes.

When I convert my selection to nodes, it gives all the nodes inside these elements selected.

Do you mind to let me know how can I get the surface nodes in 3D elements selection?

Thank you so much!

Best wishes,
James

One option would be to intersect the selection you have (all nodes) with nodes on slice 1 (e .g., by using the 'Select by expression' tool) - assuming that you have a layered model.

That works! thank you so much Peter! Jintao also mentioned that we can do this by "Select Complete Slice", however as my model is a sloping ground built with 3D layered approach, this method didn't work. I need to get the intersection of 2 selections. Thanks a lot Jintao and Peter!

Another time, If you only want the nodes on the outside border (surface) of an element selection you can use convert to "Border node selection".
