Hi everyone,
I am making a 3D model for groundwater flow. In the last slice, I have bedrock and I want to introduce a fault in that slice. Thickness of fault is about 1km.
Do I need to put is like a discrete feature, If yes...then how can I put this?
Or is there any way that I can divide that slice in three parts: 1) low hydraulic conductivity, 2) High hydraulic conductivity (for fault) and 3) Again low.

Any suggestion would be appriciated.

Thanks in advance..

In general, there are two different approaches to represent faults and fractures within a numerical model. You may either use Discrete Features or you may fully discretize the geometry of the faults and fractures within the finite element mesh. Discrete Features are only applicable if the faults and fractures induce preferential pathways. If the faults and fractures are impervious, then you need to fully discretize them.
