I am trying to develop an IFM to calculate the Peclet number for a given FEFLOW model. I am stuck in this problem as i venture to calculate the elemental peclet number.
I am unable to figure out how I can calculate the characteristic length of a given element. As in the length which in this case will be the distance of the adjoining element in the direction of flow. How do i calculate the distance from the centre of the element in question and find the centre of the the next element which is in the direction of flow? If i can calculate these two things then I can use a simple geometric formula to calculate the distance.
