intersections between nodes and elements selections

I am trying to use selections to edit properties. I want to use a nodal selection intersection with a element selection but altough FEFLOW seems to do this, it also does somethign that I don't want. It changes not only the propriety I am working it but all properties in the model are completely changed and zonal distributions of the parametes are lost. Just the intersected area and the rest of the model are set with values, usually 0 and 1.
How can I overcome this?

In general, FEFLOW only changes values for a) the active parameter(s) and b) the active selection. If it would change parameter values anywhere else, it would clearly be a but. I would think, however, that this would be something that would be detected and fixed very quickly.
