Dear all,

I will use WEST to model a WWTP with classic secondary treatment. The biological reactor is plug-flow activated sludge (http://www.aguasdocentrolitoral.pt/pt/menu-de-topo/comunicacao/galeria/detalhe-galeria-imagens/?id=61&img=17&bl=1). I will not look at the solid phase now but it includes two anareobic digestors, and the biogas is used for generating electricity.

My question is which kind of model should I use? Is it sufficient to use ASM1? (The discharge is in deep sea, and from here, I would say that P removal would not ever required).

As it is my first time using WEST, are there important suggestions?

Thank you,
Kind regards,
João Vieira

Dear Joao,
if you are not going to model P, ASM1 may be the right choice. Especially, if you will be including the anaerobic digestion and biogas generation at a later stage - ADM1 can be smoothly coupled with ASM1.
