Questions:
Use the questions below to check whether this article applies:
Has the software started showing a demo-mode or license not available message after previously working?
Does the error message mention that a feature is not available, or that the model exceeds demo-mode limitations? See example in Fig. 1.
Fig. 1 – The message may vary depending on the affected feature and the software
Is the feature included in the product list for the relevant entitlement in the DHI Entitlement Portal? See example in Fig. 2
Fig. 2 -In the Entitlement Portal, go to Entitlements. Locate the relevant Entitlement ID, and expand the entitlement using the dropdown arrow. Confirm that the feature is included in the Products list.
- If the affected feature has limited availability, has your company administrator confirmed that all available seats are not currently in use by other users or simulations? See example in Fig. 3Fig. 3- One license seat allows up to four simulations. Therefore, under Seats in the DHI Entitlement Portal, a quantity of 4 represents one license seat only.
Is the feature missing from the Feature table in the desktop app DHI License Management 2026>DHI License Manager? See example in Fig. 4.
Fig. 4 – In the DHI License Management 2026 desktop app, check whether the feature is listed in the Feature table. You can sort the table alphabetically to help locate the feature. Note: We don't aggregate features in the table, so the list may include features from multiple entitlements, and seat counts may differ from the Entitlement Portal.
Was the entitlement recently renewed, extended or updated with additional features due to SMA renewal or software release?
Solution:
If the answer is Yes to most of these questions, the network license server may need to be updated by your Network entitlement administrator. Please follow the steps below.
Note: If several seat-assignment changes are required, complete them one at a time. Wait for the confirmation message after each change before making the next change.
Option 1: Update the existing network server (recommended)
Sign in to the Entitlement Portal.
Navigate to the relevant network server
Select Update Server; see example in Fig. 5.
Fig. 5 - In the DHI Entitlement Portal, go to Network Servers, locate the relevant server, and select Update Server.
Select Create Import String; see example in Fig. 6.
Fig. 6 – Select CREATE IMPORT STRING and then select COPY IMPORT STRING
Select Copy Import String.
Open DHI License Management 2026 on the computer running DHI License Server 2026.
Apply the new import string to the existing network license server.
Reopen DHI License Manager 2026 on the affected computer and check whether the missing feature is now listed.
Reopen MIKE software and confirm that the required license is available.
Option 2: Release and recreate the network server
Use this option only if Update Server does not restore the missing feature
Before proceeding:
Review Video: How to Release a Network Server
Review DHI Entitlement Portal - How to Create a Network Server
Review page 18 of the DHI User Guide for Entitlement Management and Licensing
Then:
Release the entitlement from the existing network server back to the DHI Entitlement Portal by following the network-server release instructions.
Confirm that the release has completed and that the entitlement is available in the portal.
Create the replacement network server by following the network-server creation instructions.
Transfer the relevant entitlement to the replacement network server.
Complete the import process on the computer running DHI License Server 2026.
Open DHI License Management 2026 and confirm that the affected feature is included in the Feature table.
Reopen MIKE software and confirm that the required license is available.
Important: You do not need to uninstall the existing DHI License Server 2026.
Cause
This issue may occur when multiple seat assignment changes are submitted in quick succession. Because entitlement updates can take time to process, some features may not be assigned correctly at first, causing them to appear missing in the DHI License Management 2026 desktop application. The provider of the Entitlement system, Revenera, is working on improving this behavior, so this issue is expected to happen less frequently in the near future.
