Hi FEFLOW people.

can anybody explain what Growth factor between subsequent time steps (>1) means?
I only found this explanation (
Unfortunately, I was not able to understand at all.

Kind regards,

Let me quote the help content here:
"Limit for the maximum relative change in time step size per time step. The default value in FEFLOW 7.1 is 2.0."

When using an adaptive time stepping procedure, the time step will typically increase from a small size to some larger value at the beginning of the simulation and after dynamic events in the model. This factor limits the growth of the step by a maximum factor. The closer to 1, the more stable the solution (due to shorter time steps after a time step reduction) - but the more time steps you'll need.
